Bump! Set! Spike!

The Lady Dawgs volleyball season began this week with their first game Tuesday night in Hamilton.  Twenty girls make up the team this year, led by only four seniors.  Most of the team can be found in the Sophomore and Junior classes with fourteen girls, with only two freshman coming in.

     Team Captain, who is voted on by the team, is senior Abby Kile.  Kile says she expects a lot this year.  “The practices have been intense and hopefully it shows in our playing.”  Co-Captain for this season is Junior, Molly Ballard.

     First year Head Coach Jennifer Talkington also expects big things for the coming season.  “I’m looking forward to our Senior leadership this fall.  I really think they’re going to step it up and be good role models.  We’ve set our team goals high this year in expectation of a very successful season.”  Coach Talkington is being assisted by Madison graduate Dusty Clark.

     The Lady Dawgs will travel to Melvern next Tuesday and they will play their first tournament next Saturday, September 8, in Eureka.  “I believe we’ll come out strong in our first showing at the Eureka Tournament,” says Talkington.  “It’s going to be real tough.”
