Last Thursday the Madison Junior High Bullpups went on the road to take on the Waverly Bullpups. Our boys put a spanking on Waverly, beating them with an intimidating score of 40-14. Leading in points was eighth grader, Kole Schankie with a phenomenal night with 25 carries of 234 rushing yards, resulting in six touchdown runs and four extra points. Scoring the other two touchdowns of the night was eighth grader Tanner Bybee.
In the first quarter, the Madison’s offense made quick work of it by scoring two touchdowns to Waverly’s one. The boys pulled a replay in the second quarter by again scoring two times to Waverly’s one, ending the half with the score of 26-14. Coming back pumped after halftime, the Madison boys plowed through Waverly’s defense, quickly adding another touchdown to the already one-sided score. Waverly, unable to regroup, was left in the dust as the Bullpups scored again in the fourth quarter, finishing the home team off. The Waverly offense struggled throughout the night, fumbling three times with Damian Gutierrez recovering one and Collin Kile recovering two.
The boys will play again on Thursday at home against Neosho Rapids. The game is slated to begin at 6:30. Come out and cheer on our Bullpups!
