Lady Dawgs Win One, Lose One

by Tina Ratcliff

October 25, 2007

This last Tuesday, the Madison Lady Dawgs took a trip to Cottonwood Falls to take on the Waverly Lady Bulldogs and the Chase County Lady Bulldogs.

First up for the night our ladies competed with Waverly for a win in the first game.  Although the next two games were very close, our Dawgs stumbled up a bit and found themselves with a loss of 25-21 in the first game and 25-20 in the second.  Out of the 11 team kills, Morgan Stout led by slamming down 4.  Molly Ballard held 10 of the 14 assists, Stout had 3 solo blocks, and Shelby Buster had 4 defensive digs.

Up next on the schedule was the home team, the Chase County Lady Bulldogs.  After their first loss, the ladies were looking for a victory and found it by defeating Chase County in two games with scores of 25-18 and 25-19.  Buster had a good night with 6 kills, 3 solo blocks, and 2 defensive digs.  Ballard again led in assists with 11 of 12.

On the junior varsity side of things, the ladies had a loss to Waverly and a victory to Chase County.  Bringing down a kill each against Waverly were Kelsie Bybee, Malacie Bybee, and Alleda McClelland.  Laura Titus and Tina Ratcliff had a defensive dig each.  The ladies went on to play in the Lebo Invitational Tournament on Saturday and came out taking fourth place.  More details will follow next week.

The players of the week are sophomore Morgan Stout and senior Misty Waggoner.  Great job ladies!

The girls play at Olpe this week and there will be another JV tournament on Saturday at Burlington.  Come out and enjoy some good volleyball and support our Lady Dawgs!
