8th Grade Social Science Class Relives the Western Movement

By Brad Derryberry

October 30, 2007

Today Mrs. Wines 8th Grade Social Science class relived the Western Movement. To compensate for the missing wagon, they used the school van, moving at 2 MPH (Approximately the speed the wagon would have been moving). They made a short stop by the football field (Independence Rock) so they could camp and eat some "grub". This grub included beans,(jelly beans) bacon and biscuits, (bacon flavored crackers), and oat cakes (Mrs. Wines's homemade Oatmeal Cookies). After the meal, they finished their trip through the rocky mountains (the school parking lot), to get to where they would "build a home." The students seemed to have had fun, and a good learning experience.  Oregon Trail Click here to see more pictures.
