Last Friday night the Madison Lady Dawgs played host to the Chase County Lady Bulldogs on our own home court. This was the first game for both teams since coming back from Christmas break and Madison was ready to start the New Year on a good note. They accomplished this by defeating Chase County 56-45.
Starting out in the first quarter, Madison was just waking up and barely maintained a lead by scoring 15 points to Chase County’s 12 points. The second quarter showed our Lady Dawgs taking the ball and running with it by scoring 18 points to CCHS’s 11, leaving the score going into half time 33-23.
Coming back out into the third quarter, the Lady Dawg defense kept Chase to only 10 points while the offense put up another 13 points, allowing the fourth quarter to begin with the score 46-33 in Madison’s favor. Madison let up just a little in the fourth quarter, allowing Chase County to outscore them by 2 points, but still not enough to take home a victory as Madison won it 56-45.
Scoring nearly half of our Lady Dawgs’ points for the night was sophomore Shelby Buster with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 blocks. Following was senior Abby Kile and sophomore Morgan Stout with 10 points each. Junior Tera Titus threw in 6 points and sophomore Chelcie Schankie wrapped it up with 4 points.
Madison plays at home Tuesday night vs the Lyndon Tigers and again Friday night vs the MdCV Trojans.
